Before Your Visit

WHEN TO VISIT

  • Flowers will typically prefer to be picked in the morning or late afternoon/evening to prevent wilting. Some flowers will tolerate the strong sun/heat better than others and will perk back up with a fresh cut when you arrange them.

  • Visit when you have time to look around and enjoy the experience—don’t be in a rush. Plan to spend at least an hour enjoying the farm and choosing your flowers. Walking the fields is a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family creating bouquets and memories!

  • Check the weather! As an outdoor experience, there will be times that we must close for the safety of our guests (ie. thunderstorms). Please check social media or contact us directly if you are unsure whether to head our way or not due to weather.

WHAT TO BRING

  • CONTAINER—Bring a container to pick and take your flowers home in once picked. We do have buckets available to use in the field and paper to wrap flowers in for travel if you forget a container. We will provide the clippers to use in the field and a water source to fill your bucket/container with fresh cool water.

  • HAT—Bring a hat and/or sunscreen for warm, sunny days. There is little shade in the field so it can get quite warm.

  • WATER—Bring a cold bottle of water or drink to stay hydrated.

  • MUD SHOES—Bring shoes that may get dirty. The field is a part of the great outdoors and can be muddy and dusty at times.

  • LOVED ONES—Bring your friends and/or family and a camera to enjoy nature’s beauty with you!

  • SNACK/LUNCH—We have several places to sit and picnic tables if you wish to bring a picnic lunch or a snack to enjoy while taking in the beauty of nature along all the row of flowers.

  • NOTE: We are a working farm in addition to offering the u-pick flower farm; therefore, we encourage you to leave pets at home when you visit the farm.

During Your Visit

ENJOY

  • Before choosing which flowers to cut take a look at all we have to offer! You may find some old favorites and a few new and different flowers you’d like to include in your choices. Depending on when you visit, the flower choices will vary and change throughout the season.

CUT

  • Flowers will work best to arrange if cut with about an arm length of stem and will sometimes provide you with several blooms with one cut. Deep cuts will help the flowers regenerate strong new blooms and allow you plenty of stem to trim as you arrange. You can always trim shorter, but we cannot put back on trimmed stems to lengthen it again!

  • Cut fillers and focal flowers of varying texture and sizes. Signage will help you make these choices if you’re new to the u-pick flower experience.

PURCHASING AND ARRANGING

  • Once you have chosen your flowers from the field you may pay for your choices and stay to arrange or take your flowers home to create your masterpieces!

    • Tables are provided and stem/leaf buckets for striping unneeded foliage.

    • We are happy to provide assistance in arranging if you’d prefer some tips and tricks.

    • Each bouquet will be unique and special because you were part of the process of creating the arrangement.

  • Vases are available to purchase as well, if you are creating a gift for someone special.

  • Once you’ve purchased your flowers, do not plan to leave them in your vehicle too long. The hot temperatures in the vehicle will quickly deteriorate the quality of fresh, local flowers. Flowers prefer to be cool once cut to achieve the best vase life.

  • You will receive instructions for keeping your flowers fresh and a packet of flower preservative before you leave the farm.

  • Make a fresh cut on each stem as you arrange.

  • Strip any foliage that will be under the water line.

  • Enjoy the process of creating your own natural work of art!
